To coat the top of a wire, bend the top of the steel wire double with a point nose plier, this provides a good adhesion with the clay, cover the top with some glue, stick a ball of clay at the tip and shape it to a elongated drop. This form we use e.g. for making the flower pistil (see: Using the pistil jig).
